One of those present at the National Security Council meeting said, "We are in trouble, but we are not in a state of negligence." The participant confirmed that the National Security Council had received information on terrorism, the economy and Afghanistan.|

It was the first National Security Council meeting since the change of army leadership and came at a time when Pakistan is facing multiple challenges including dwindling foreign exchange reserves and the resurgence of the outlawed Taliban in Pakistan (TTP).

A statement issued after the meeting said that an important meeting of the National Security Council was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Federal ministers, heads of departments and heads of intelligence services participated in the meeting. 

The meeting discussed in detail the country's economy, law and order.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the participants on the economic situation in the country and the challenges it faces, and also briefed the participants on the economic strategy and measures adopted by the government.

The intelligence services gave a briefing on the general situation of law and order in the country and informed the meeting of factors related to the recent wave of terrorism and measures to deal with it.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Kahr briefed the meeting on the situation in Afghanistan and briefed on Pakistan's relations with the Afghan Interim Government. The meeting expressed an unequivocal view that Pakistan's national interests will not be compromised and no one will be allowed to undermine the core concept of national security. Pakistan's core interests of survival, security and development will be safeguarded with great courage, consistency and perseverance.

The meeting also praised the great sacrifices of the martyrs against terrorism, expressed sympathy and sympathy to their families, and collectively called for raising the ranks of the martyrs. The NSC meeting also expressed its determination that terrorists are enemies of Pakistan.

The entire nation is united in a narrative against terrorism and terrorists. A statement said those who challenge Pakistan will get a full response.

The National Security Council meeting will continue on Monday, January 2, 2023, when further decisions will be taken in light of the proposals.
