Nail polish dryer can cause cancer

San Diego: A new study warns that the machine used to dry nail polish can cause cancer.

Researchers from the University of California, San Diego, found in a study that the use of nail polish dryers can lead to the destruction of human cells and changes in cells that cause cancer.
According to experts, despite being extremely harmful to health, these ultraviolet nail lamps are sold without thinking about the possible dangers. Ludmil Alexandrov, a professor of bioengineering and cellular and molecular medicine at the university, said that these devices are sold as safe, that there is nothing to worry about, but no one has yet tested these devices and the human cells they affect. did not study
Professor Alexandrov and his colleagues observed reports published in several medical journals that people who regularly had gel manicures, such as beauty pageants or beauticians, now developed certain finger cancers. He said that the research showed that there was zero information about what these devices were doing to human cells.
Ultraviolet rays, which have wavelengths shorter than the wavelength of visible light, are further divided into three types by wavelength, UVA, UVB, and UVC.
Generally, the LEDs used in UV nail lamps emit wavelengths between 340 and 395 nanometers. In the study, the scientists used cells taken from mice with two types of human cells.
In one method intense irradiation was applied, while in the other method the cells were irradiated for a fixed period of time after a longer period of time.
In the first method, a variety of cells placed in Petri dishes were exposed to radiation for 20 minutes, then removed from the lamp for an hour to recover or return to their original shape, and again exposed to radiation for 20 minutes. while in the second method the cells were placed under the machine for 20 minutes daily for three days.
The researchers found that a single 20-minute session caused 20 to 30 percent cell death, while 20-minute sessions for three consecutive days resulted in between 65 and 70 percent cell death.
